There has been a recent need to reorganize and I lost my temporary studio or as my husband calls it the crafting storage room. By needing to move it all again something became very apparent for really the first time as most of the storage has been hidden. My stash as grown!!
This was my beading stash back in January of 2011 when I just started beading.
It was so much fun to organize it all back then.
This is what my stash has grown to.
I thought with buying the two shelving units I would be able to store both beading and cross stitch supplies. HA!!!! and JOY! My beads take up both shelves.
Do you find it fun to organize and see what you really have?

This is all my seeds and projects |
These are my Art Beads! Do you that back in 2011 I only had less than one box full? |
These are my czech beads and crystals.I find it hysterical that with all those delicas I have no size 10 for a project I really want to do. |
These are the beading books and magazines. |

We moved b4 Christmas, and I continue to organize. Trying -- really trying -- to use up some of my stash rather than collect more. I enjoy organizing, especially when feeling frustrated about not being able to find the 'perfect' element for a project I want to complete. I used to enjoy shopping more. Heck, it's a lot easier to get a new element than to hunt thru what I have. But lately my joy is in discovery. Putting stuff in order has recharged me. But, to be honest, some of this totally has to do with the unbearably long winter and my desire to cocoon until it goes away! LOL
ReplyDeleteYes the desire to cocoon is great this winter!
DeleteYou are extraordinarily organized! Can I pay you (in beads) to come and organize me like that?! (Seriously. I would!) I love to think about organization and storage and finding a place for everything and putting everything in its place, but I am so organizationally challenged. I buy things that never get put into service. And just trip over the rest. I actually used to have a professional organizer friend that would help me from time to time, but it never seemed to get me that far and then I have to keep on working in that space so I never get a handle on it. I think I need like 2 weeks of no deadlines or anything to just focus on this and this alone. But that is likely not going to happen, so I continue to shift and trip and curse and flounder and then go 'aha!' when I find something that I forgot I bought! ;-) Thanks for sharing your space, Miss Kristen! Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteActually my husband and I would love to come and organize for you but this one was forced on us so I had no choice but to get it all where it would be out of the way.
DeleteI LOVE organizing beads. It's so fun. Isn't it funny to look at stash photos from the early days!
ReplyDeleteYes it so is!!!!!
DeleteI still can't settle on a way to organize my supplies! Those shelving units look great. Makes me wish my work bench wasn't in the garage and that my husband had less "stuff"...then I'd have room to put something more useful in. Or at least have access to the cabinets we do have already! But I'll admit that having to dig through everything so often keeps me up to date on what I've got, and gives me new ideas on how to use it!
ReplyDeleteyes having it all on hand does make it easier and since this is now the only space for my beads I will have to keep up with the organization.
DeleteNo way do I want to KNOW how much is in there, dude LOL. But seriously, it IS a treat to come across a small treasure that I had "misplaced", Kristen :)
ReplyDeleteLOLOLOL Yes there is alot! And I wish my hubs did not know how much!
DeleteI'd love to organize (again) but I just never seem to find the time. When I do it's nice for awhile but I can never keep up with it. Too much going on in life!
ReplyDeleteThis will be a space I have to keep up with which may keep it this way. This is the first thing you see when you open the back door.
DeleteI finally have my own space (the smallest bedroom in the house) and it's almost more challenging to stay organized. I was able to move into my 'office' 1 year ago but its a mess! I don't even know how I create in there! I am definitely in need of some spring cleaning & organizing. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI am happy to inspire you
DeleteI really like how organized you are. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you and if you had a hubs like mine you would see why!
DeleteAh! organization! Yes, I love it. lol I'm constantly hoarding useful storage boxes and other nifty containers, and I'm just as happy organizing beads as I am making things… making always takes priority though, thus my messy studio. Good job on getting organized Kristen!
ReplyDeleteI am so envious. Your space is so organized. I'm in a temporary space at the moment and all my crap is stored underneath the 12 foot table I have. Until I moved I didn't know how much stuff I had either. Maybe I can make myself do some organizing. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWonderful job organizing. I have my beads in containers on shelving and I dig through them often. They are sorted by color. I am trying to find a good way to store seed beads though. I am thinking of magnetic boards with a small magnet attached to each container, but I haven't done that yet.
ReplyDeleteI do like to organize...however, I have three young children, so getting around to it just doesn't happen right now. I spend more time organizing their things! My beads are at least in bins....they all live above the cupboards in our kitchen where I work (and can keep an eye on my kids) =)
