But every so often I need to create something new, something that isn't polymer clay, or at least isn't all polymer clay.
Lately that something new has been jewelry…
I'm so happy to be making jewelry again! It's been a few years since I've made it regularly and I'm so excited to start designing again. Jewelry making is what started me on the path of bead making, but in all the flurry of making a gazillion sleepy critters, I was beginning to forget the part of me that loves to string beads and wrap wire. Almost. So I've decided to start allowing myself a little studio time devoted to jewelry making only. Ahhh! It's so good to be back at it again.

this has inspired me to use some of my leather scraps that i had no idea what to use them for, thanks for the inspiration. and so glad you have made time to do something you love just for the pleasure of it.
I'm so happy you're inspired Deb! I've never once burned wood with my wood burning tool… I actually did buy it originally for burning leather, but after using it twice or so, I hadn't used it in ages. That was back before I was really into jewelry making, so I'm really happy that it's in use again. I hope you'll bring yours out to play with too!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! Yes, more feathers are in the making now and will hopefully be in my shop in the next week or so. Right now I'm dreaming up color combos and a few new patterns. I really am so thrilled to be creating jewelry again—it's like finding a part of myself that I've been missing for a very long time—it just feels so right. :-)

Thank you Sandi! I'm pretty sure I'll have to keep a few from the new batch to make jewelry for myself (I have been just awful about hoarding my latest jewelry creations!)… and maybe to write a few jewelry tutorials too. :-)

I am still knocked out by the cuff you made with Jenny's component, you really need to be making jewelry as you clearly have a gift for using beads as well as making them! Your feather components are just gorgeous, I love your subtle painting. They really look fabulous with the beaded beads too.

It's strange how something that I so enjoyed was really fairly easily forgotten, but now that I'm back in it again, I'm seeing ideas that I had only briefly envisioned come into the light finally… and so much better than I had hoped they ever would be. I have been so busy in bead-mode, that I sometimes found myself wondering how exactly a new bead idea would be used… or would it be used at all… So, you could say making jewelry has some business points too (I'm working on my excuses, incase I need them.) I'm really hoping to do more than a few jewelry how-to posts in the future too. :-)

Now, that is really something I want to try so badly.
